Most runners have a lot going through their mind before a marathon.
Here’s a useful checklist of things you will need to run your marathon or half marathon successfully.
It’s worth running through this the night before the race. Then you will know that everything is in its right place and you can concentrate on getting in the right frame of mind for your marathon.
The checklist
- Running shoes
- Running socks
- Running shorts
- Running vest
- Your entry number
- Your timing chip
- Your watch
- Gloves
- Warm Hat or a Sun Visor
- Suncream/li>
- Sunglasses
- Nipple guards or sticking plaster
- Vaseline or lubricant
- Gel or other nutrition for the race
- Sports drink or water
- A pre-race snack
- Toilet paper
- Your race pace notes and split times
- All the documentation sent by the organisers
- Music (if allowed)
- A change of clothing in case the weather is unexpectedly hot or cold
- Phone
- A post-race snack
